One observation that I've made over the years, between PBS & NPR stations, and their commercial counterparts, is that employees of NPR & PBS seemed well paid, and always seemed to work on the latest & newest studio & broadcasting gear, while many commercial stations were barely hanging-on with ancient equipment and had lots of staff making only minimum-wage. Uh-huh...
