My Favorite New SDR App for 2026!
« on: December 31, 2025, 1513 UTC »
HNY All!

I haven't seen this mentioned here yet, but for those running the RX-888, there is a new system that is so cool I can't put it into words.  It wraps so much into one app I may be retiring many of my other go to SDR apps and hardware.

https://ubersdr.org/

https://github.com/madpsy/ka9q_ubersdr

It's composed of two docker images to support KA9Q-Radio and another for the UI, decoding and processing.  There are also standalone clients for Windows and Linux, which I've yet to play with that offer various audio and CAT interfaces and SDC TCI connectivity, something I've been looking to see supported in the opensource SDR realm.  See https://www.lw-sdc.com/ for more on add-ons.

I've spun up docker and when I'm not testing/playing/restarting the images, you can check the receiver UI here:

http://ubersdr.k1ra.us:9080/

but also check out some cool metrics and analytics at:

http://ubersdr.k1ra.us:9080/bandconditions.html
http://ubersdr.k1ra.us:9080/noisefloor.html

There are only a select few others running this found here:

Tried it with my RC-888 MK2, but couldn't get it to work. Problem is the missing admin password. During installation, I was never asked for a password and so I can't log in to the administration frontend. Strange...

Don’t be discouraged, there is real value here if you can get it running. If you ran the curl script to install, then somewhere towards the end of the installation it should have given you the password as an output in the terminal. If you missed that or whatever, no worries. The password you need is stored in plaintext here: /var/lib/docker/volumes/ubersdr_ubersdr-config/_data/config.yaml you can open with your text editor of choice whether VI or nano.

Good Luck, I think the analytics and real world band condition logging here is unparalleled.

I assume this is only for the MK2 and not original RX-888?
