WWCR 5935 kHz Missing
« on: February 01, 2026, 0246 UTC »
Have not heard any signal at all from WWCR during NA evenings, for a number of days on 5935 kHz. Normally has Dr. Gene Scott on. Streaming audio (WWCR-2) is still operating. Did they have damage from recent winter storm?

I've not heard any of the WWCR freqs in at least two weeks. 12160 has been the most reliable and consistent frequency ever since I start SWLing some twenty years ago. I have to assume the ice storm did significant damage to their antennas.

Nice catch by both of you.  From WWCR's website, cooling units damaged in storm:

https://www.wwcr.com
Tecsun H501x (broadcast received on this unless noted), Zenith T/O G500, Zenith T/O Royal 7000, Emerson AR-176, Zenith 8S154, T/O 7G605 (Bomber), Tecsun PL-600, Tecsun PL-880, Zenith 5S320, Realistic DX 160 using 40 feet of copper wire.  With apologies to Senator Gramm for his thoughts on firearms, "I have more radios than I need but not as many as I want."
