https://www.radioworld.com/news-and-business/news-makers/should-we-kick-the-fcc-to-the-curb    Hmmmm....  "The FCC’s public interest standard requires radio and TV broadcast licensees to operate in the “public interest, convenience and necessity” — a broad mandate stemming from the Communications Act of 1934, obligating broadcasters to serve local needs with diverse programming rather than just maximizing profit."  Did they fail upon this endeavor? Um, yeah... They haven't been called the Federal Corporate Coddlers for nothin'. Then again, won't they just come up with something worst? Usually... OK... Your comments are welcome. (Thank you Boomer for FWR this.)
The best two statements of advice that I've ever gotten are from my brother-in-law in the early 1990's. 1st one, when I bought a used '89 Olds Cutless, my bro-in-law said, "Congratulations!!! You've just bought a deficit!". The other, was on a work environment, " No matter where you go, it's going to be f***'ed -up!". No truer words have been spoken.

Welcome Meow!!!!   You are not the only one to have that opinion about the District Of Crapola. BTW, getting back to my original post, one of my bosses, (Station co-owner.), in television pointed what the FCC failed upon. Needless to say, I agreed with her.

I'm not going to defend the FCC, especially now that certain commissioners seem to be using it as a weapon to chill speech on broadcast stations.

I'm the president of the board for our local noncommercial public station, however, and we still need the FCC for at least one reason: to ensure unlicensed stations on the AM and FM bands don't interfere with other stations.

Our station is down in the "educational band" with a few thousand watts; it would be relatively easy for another station to park on our frequency and overpower us. Because most of our staff consists of volunteers and we run on less than $400,000 a year (we've never gotten federal funding, just donations and grants), deliberate interference would leave us dead in the water.

That said, we've told our volunteer DJs to be extra-vigilant about making sure none of the FCC-banned words are in the songs they're playing these days. It seems like the FCC would be happy to pull the licenses of stations like ours that could be taken down to make room for more noncommercial religious stations.

Other agencies might be capable of basic enforcement of the rules on the broadcast bands. If so, then I'm fine with ending the FCC.

Well, the late Harry Browne, candidate several times over for the Libertarian Party, suggested getting rid of the three, four, and five, lettered agencies. To replace the FCC, he suggested treating a local broadcast frequency like a property deed. If you don't interfere, fair game, but if you do interfere and jam a licensed FREQ, you'd be charged for trespassing. Now, this may sound well & good, until you realize that you have human nature to deal with. What would stop deep-pocketed individuals, non-commercial agencies, and corporations, from buying up and monopolizing every free frequency on the bands. You know that's what would happen. Yes, the FCC sucks, and sucks bad. However, consider that any ideas to replace that could be much far worst. Even today, I am still learning, be careful what you ask for.
