https://www.radioworld.com/news-and-business/business-and-law/proposed-noaa-weather-modernization-act-passes-house-markup    Well, at least we are keeping our NOAA Weather Radio, unlike Canada, which plans to shut theirs down. I don't mind my tax $$$$'s paying for VHF High Band propagational beacons. (Hi-hi...)
The best two statements of advice that I've ever gotten are from my brother-in-law in the early 1990's. 1st one, when I bought a used '89 Olds Cutless, my bro-in-law said, "Congratulations!!! You've just bought a deficit!". The other, was on a work environment, " No matter where you go, it's going to be f***'ed -up!". No truer words have been spoken.

Looks like the bill got bipartisan support, which is always a good thing.

I still can't wrap my head around the reason Canada junked their Weather radio service.

But what's done is done.
An AM radio Boombox DXer.
+ GE SRIII, PR-D5 & TRF on MW.
The usual Realistic culprits on SW (and a Panasonic).

Ya know, that most likely would not work today? Why??? Well, when they did it with meteorologists, recorded via land line phone, you could clearly hear and understand the recordings and updated alerts. Try doing that from cell phones today. Cell phones / smart phones can do just about everything except act & sound like a real phone. Not to mention, trying to record with possible constant drop-outs. I fully agree with the late Art Bell, when on a re-aired C2C AM 2002 show, he expressed his frustration on cell phone quality tech by saying, "We've really gone backwards in this.". (There, I went on yet another tangent.)
