📻 Big update on ShortwaveHQ — the search just got a whole lot smarter.

Type in a frequency, a station name, or even just a country, and you'll get real, scored results pulled from a live daily-updated global schedule — not a static list from months ago. Found something crowded on the band? The search now ranks results by how close your match actually is, so the right station surfaces first instead of getting buried.

Also new: hands-on video reviews are live now alongside the written ones, real NOAA propagation data so you know what the bands are actually doing, and a community Reception Log where you can share your own catches.

Still the same mission: build the best shortwave schedule search out there, one honest update at a time.

A few updates on ShortwaveHQ (hqshortwaveradio.com) since I last posted here — figured this crowd would actually find some of it useful.

Database grew to 309 stations / 814 frequencies, pulled and merged daily from EIBI with a broadcast-band whitelist filter to cut out the marine/coast-station noise. Search is scored (exact freq match > 10kHz > 50kHz, text search with alias expansion) rather than a flat list.

Added real NOAA space weather data — SFI, K-index, sunspot number, 24hr SFI history — pulled server-side, not a randomizer like a lot of sites fake this with.

New: a community Reception Log. No login, just log a catch (freq/time/station/SINPO) and it shows up in a live feed on the Propagation page. Wanted a low-friction way for people to actually share what they're hearing instead of it living in a notebook.

Also published a handful of hands-on radio reviews (Radioddity GS-10B Pro, XHDATA D-219, a couple others) — actual testing, not spec-sheet rewrites.

Still a work in progress and I'd rather hear the criticism now than after I've built more on a bad foundation — if anything looks off or you spot bad data in the schedule, there's a report link on the search page, or just reply here.

summer (A-26) schedules end on Oct 25 and broadcasters switch to B-26. Based on the usual pattern: nights get longer, so 49/41/31 m stay open later and 19/16/13 m close earlier, and a lot of evening services drop to lower frequencies. Clocks change around the same weekend, so some broadcasts shift an hour in UTCThe s while others keep UTC and move on your clock.

I run a free schedule site (ShortwaveHQ, built from EIBI + HFCC data, no login). I snapshotted the A-26 baseline on Oct 7 so the changes can be measured: 318 stations, 4,974 broadcasts, 822 frequencies. When the B-26 file is out, the page lists every station that dropped, every new service and every frequency change.

Two things I'd like from this group:
1. Which stations do you want to see tracked first (WRMI, WWCR, Radio Romania, others)?
2. If a frequency or time on the site looks wrong for your area, tell me and I'll check it against EIBI.

Full disclosure: it's my site. The schedule pages have no ads; the review pages have Amazon affiliate links.
