Well, it's come to this: It's midnight and I'm listening to a heavy metal cover version of "The Wheels On The Bus Go Round and Round" on pirate short wave radio on Sternradio. Is life great, or what!?

Noted immediate signal boost roughly 10 mins after my initial post. Improved strength despite continuing strong fades.

Noisy-ass summer night tonight. RFE is ranging 5-7 here in Metro DC, with the occasional peak at 9, but 5 is pretty much where this signal wants to plant itself. And this with some monumental antenna tuning in progress.

Hunter of jammers, pirates and numbers.

Newly acquired ICOM 7300 MK2, newer-still Malahit DSP2, and an old workhorse Magnavox (Philips) D2999 that I can't quit. Receive-only with a new outdoor K-480WLA, backed up by an indoor MLA30+.  ... I'll continue to sort the rest as I go -- planning my own external antenna array.
