Buried receiving loop used on 3265 kHz - 11 OCT 2026

on 3265  drifting around,
2009 Tina Turner "Simply the best", 2013 next,
2017 jingles (no ID caught), "Surfin' USA" bpm-ized
at home, must use a buried loop to get less of PLC pest from neighbours
2024 'this is .. dance radio'
Is your LoG antenna actually buried Ray or sat on the grounds surface?
I made one a while back but not run any extensive tests with it.

That was an old test I made years ago.

I used a 20m long roll of insulated copper wire. About 16m are buried under the lawn, between trees, the remaining 4m are used as a buried line to the foot of another tree. There, the two ends of the loop are connected to 20m of 75 ohm coax line, 2m buried, then remaining up to my listening shack. No balun, no transformer, no accessories anywhere along.

NO GOOD RESULTS !

But on that particular band, I have very strong noise from the neighbourhood, PLC type, with all my other antennas. And with that buried loop, on 3265, quite less of that PLC pest. Nothing more.

BTW, I remember that wires on the ground, as they slowly become wire under the lawn are also losing their efficiency to collect waves.

EDIT : I choose to bury the wire, not to leave it above the grass (a danger when walking, a hasstle to mow the lawn)

Thanks Ray, that’s interesting.

I wondered when you said it was buried, I need to run some tests and you’ve given me a few ideas.
The almost constant qrm I get is from some commercial air conditioning units as I live in a town centre near restaurants etc. it’s sometimes not bad if I use a Noise Cancelling Loop but other times it annihilates the MW band and the bottom end of SW.
The new source of qrm is my neighbour charging an eBike but that is only at certain times of the day.

I’ll try the Loop on the Ground again on the surface, mine has a balun I wired for a 50ohm feed line. Probably take it up periodically so it doesn’t end up under the lawn as you said.
