Received locally the Mexican taxi radio dispatcher on CB radio channel 23 - QRG 27255 kHz 27,255 AM 27.255MHz in Richmond VA using just a handheld radio.  Was playing around with an old TRC-224 3-channel crystal controlled AM only CB walkie-talkie and a PNI HP82.

The TRC-224 has a massive center-loaded antenna that’s a good 48 or so inches long fully extended.  Right now I have the crystals for

Channel A - 27.125 MHz [CB Ch. 14]
Channel B - 27.255 MHz [CB Ch. 23]
Channel C - 26.995 MHz [RCRS]

Installed in the TRC-224.  I’ve got the crystal pairs for several RC freqs above channel 40, including

27.675, 27.725, 27.775 MHz, plus the Australian / New Zealand 29 MHz RC freqs: 29.805 MHz, 29.825 MHz and maybe a handful of other 29 MHz band (29.705 MHz - 29.985 MHz I think…10
kHz or 20 kHz spacing) , as well as legal CB channels 27.225 MHz, 27.305 MHz, 27.195 MHz (RCRS), 27.145 MHz (RCRS) 27.120 MHz and I think 27.140 MHz as well.

Yes, it does transmit on the 29 MHz RC frequencies!

Anyway, I was messing around on channel 23 - frequency 27255 kHz and the YL dispatcher comes screaming in on both the TRC-224 and the PNI Escort HP 82 / PNI HP82 with a very nice signal.

I can hear her on 27.255 MHz AM as I type this post as well.
