"F" Beacon Expreimental Time Adjustment
« on: November 20, 2009, 0343 UTC »
Hi Beaconeers,

Thanks to all your wonderful reports, I have a good idea of the S/SE skip window times.

For one week beginning November 21st and continuing until November 28th, the "F" beacon will have her time of operation adjusted to the following:

1200 UTC to 0200 UTC

This starts her two hours earlier to try and give the easterners more of a morning window that seems to be good for the band and cuts her off four hours earlier to give me a chance to use the antenna for some PiFER DX myself in the evening ;)
(and no evening reports have come in during that window since summer anyway)

I'd also like to remind all that this is southwestern Canada's monsoon season and power outages are rampant. "F" has no battery backup at this time. If the band is open and you don't hear her, it maybe the power gods have frowned on the QTH.

Peace!

I tried between 1400 and 1415z, nothing heard. I've yet to hear your beacon, will will keep trying - 8261.2 or so, right?

I do have OR coming in weakly on 8211.7.

Hi Chris,

Yup! 8261.2v (shop temprature dependent).

I checked F's mechanical timer and a couple of recent short power outages knocked her 20 mins off kilter - she began transmitting at 1420 UTC this last week :-\

I'll have this fixed up by tomorrow morning's change.

Peace!
