The Last VCRs Ever Will be Made This Month

Funai Electric, a Japanese consumer electronics company, will end production of VHS videocassette recorders (VCRs) at the end of July, according to Japanese newspaper Nikkei. This will also mark the end of the format as a whole 40 years after it began production.

I have a VHS player I got from Radio Shack in 2002 that had VCR+ Gold. Since we already had a DVD player, the VHS never got much use and consequently still works today, even the rewind function. Ah, the golden age of pre-TiVo technology.
