Pretty good reception this afternoon from this TIS station that runs somewhat higher than usual power levels, although I could never find out exactly how much power they run.

Some of the ones near a friend's run 10 watts over open rolling country and can be heard out to 30 miles. I've never spotted the antennas, though.

And several years again, also in August, hearing them again!  2144 UTC 14 Aug 2019. Very strong signal... and now a few minutes later they are gone. Was using the AirSpyHF+ and LoG.

Chris et al, AGREM 1670 is in fact a TIS (Traveler Information) station running at 10 watts.  It went operational in November 2014, and has been continuously broadcasting local emergency and related information since then, with some brief outages as we upgraded the transmitter and more recently replaced our "player".  While we are only 10 watts, we operate under two FCC waivers -- one for power intensity, and the other is for the height of the antenna.  It's located at about 125 AGL on a municipal water tower.  Both waivers were granted with our initial license because we wanted to cover quite a broad area (about 85 square miles).  AGREM is a local emergency management organization formed in 1999 and which has representation from 7 municipalities in SE Chester County, PA.  www.agrem.org is our website.

Regarding comments from others about not seeing the antennae for these stations -- n normally they are ground mounted with a set of radials and the typical height is 40 feet AGL or less and the antennae are typically under 20 feet long as well.

I'm hearing it right now on the Milford PA SDR, around 115 miles.
Big into SWDX late 70s through early 90s, then forgot about it and when I returned via SDRs it wasn't at all what I remembered, but I'll deal with it. Grumble, grumble. All SDRs acknowledged, nothing is from my own radio.

Re: AGREM 1670 kHz TIS West Grove, PA 2040 UTC 4 Aug 2016? What's the call?

Huh??? I've tried to look that TIS up in the FCC's data base, but of course, they've changed that in the last few years, again.   https://www.fcc.gov/media/radio/travelers-information-stations-search    Used to be, you could just put in the FREQ and State, if you didn't know a TIS's call. Then, you'd get a comprehensive listings of TIS stations for the whole state. Well, not anymore. Our gov at work-less...
“I am often asked how radio works. Well, you see, wire telegraphy
is like a very long cat. You yank his tail in New York and he
meows in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? Now, radio is
exactly the same, except that there is no cat.”
