Over The Top Craziness on 7200 LSB!
« on: September 24, 2016, 0027 UTC »
Been listening for awhile on 7200 LSB to a bunch of Hams going at each other with music being played and lots of name calling. Also chatting about a bust of a Ham OP and going after the Pirates. Great entertainment, have a listen! Signals are very strong here! Wow!

How much do you want to bet the ham op was a pirate?

I've never understood why a pirate would be a ham and visa-versa? The minute you get your license you give the FCC permission to inspect your station at any time.

7200LSB can be prone to ridiculous ops at times.  I've heard a bunch of swearing thrown around before, which is a ham no no, people yakking over each other, basically CB band chatter on a ham frequency.  Frankly it made me a little nervous of going near said frequency if operating on 40...  Which I don't generally, as I'm currently a tech, but still.  Club station multi-op operation does happen.

On the ham forums they talk about several frequencies on 40, a couple on 80, and one in particular on 20 meters where there is a lot of trash talk, QRMing, music playing, etc. going on.

They always ponder over why it's that way, but I just think it's the temper of the times. Internet "dialogue" often turns into little more than spamming and name calling, and the same mindset is drifting over into ham radio.

The beauty of 14313 and 7200 and the rest is it gives those inclined a place to congregate, leaving the rest of the bands alone for the most part. This is a good thing.
