On WWKB and Syracuse.  When the old Big East football conference collapsed by attrition in 2012, the better teams and those with large TV markets moved on. Syracuse went to the ACC. When you make a conference move your media rights have to be renegotiated. The conference handles the stuff with TV networks and the schools handle the third tier rights locally, in-house stuff, mostly the radio affiliates and coaches shows.

I don't know if Syracuse ever had WWKB as part of their network to begin with, but it sounds like they carry the Big Ten game of the week now? (BTW, Clemson ran Syracuse out of the stadium yesterday. WWKB may have cut away out of mercy for the locals.)

With all the musical chairs between conferences these days, dx'ing college sports isn't as simple as it used to be. You've got Colorado playing in a league based on the West Coast and West Virginia playing in one based on the Great Plains. Notre Dame plays everywhere, and I'm sure has plans for an opener on the Moon as soon as the details can be worked out.

http://www.ispsports.com/radio-network-affiliates.cfm?pid=47&type=1&affiliates

As shown in link, WWKB is listed as a 'Cuse affiliate.  It's all UConn's fault (I have a son who is an alum).  When UConn started beating BC in football, BC realized it was destined to become the second dog in New England (a region that does not produce enough talent for one D-1 team) with both teams in the Big East.  BC's answer to staying revenant in the northeast (thus, nationally) was to jump to the ACC in 2005.  After that, all the pieces started jumbling about trying to chase the next buck.  Rutgers in the Big Ten, BC in the ACC - both programs were better off in the Big East - program growth/success sacrificed for cash flow.

The local newspapers called the B.C. grab "Swofford's Folly" after ACC Commissioner John Swafford. Anyone who knew beans about Eastern Football knew B.C. couldn't draw flies to their games. Boston is a pro town. If you're not named the Patriots, the Celtics, the Bruins, or the Red Sox's, no one in the region was going to turn on the TV to watch you play. The B.C. media market is one of the biggest myths in college sports.

the thing I enjoyed most about that 2005 ACC grab was UVA being forced by the Governor of VA to vote Virginia Tech into the ACC. Those schools absolutely loathe each other. The alums and powers that be at the very preppy UVA look at the folks at Tech as untouchables, barely removed from the apes. I'm sure there were a lot of Land Rovers and BMW's in Charlottesville dragging effigies of the Gov. and the school President behind them through the streets after that vote. "Oh Muffy, I'm just so miffed they're allowing those hill-dwelling cretins into our league I may have to transfer to Hampden-Sydney in protest! By the by, do you happen to have a penny for my right loafer? I think my valet may purloined it."
