What is wrong with Radio Cairo?
« on: January 04, 2018, 2315 UTC »
Hi folks,

Recently I have tried to listen to some Radio Cairo on shortwave. After taking a look at the schedule on short-wave.info (where it's usually updated) I tried several schedules.

The problem is that most of these transmissions didn't happen at all. I managed to find only one schedule from this messy broadcaster, which is the following:

- 04-01-2018: 21:15 to 22:45 on 9900khz in English.

I have to say as well that the broadcast ended 30 minutes before expected, at 22:15.

So what's the problem, exactly? Radio Cairo used to have a huge amount of badly modulated schedules which used to mess around with other bc stations (the schedules are still listed on short-wave.info), however almost all schedules don't take place. Are they planning to shut down Radio Cairo? Is the schedule outdated?

Also, I would like to ask where the official source for the schedule is, if any, since I have been unable to find it by surfing the internet.

Best regards, qsr711

Right now (18:17 UTC) on 9540 Radio Cairo with uncommonly good modulation but low audio. The schedule goes from 18:00 to 19:00 and it's in Italian.

Are they finally fixing their stuff?

EDIT: Also found on 9975khz in Turkish from 17:00 to 19:00 UTC. However, the audio is so low I can only catch a strong carrier. The very bit of audio that I can hear seems also a bit badly modulated. Also, this slot ended 25 minutes before the expected.

The other two schedules that are supposed to be active (9325, 15285) are off air.

What's not wrong with them? That station has been undermodulated since Nassar died and the world no longer had to be subjected to his hours long speeches.

I think Nassar wore the modulation sections out and they haven't had the money to replace them since? He made a young Fidel Castro seem like a piker when it came to long-winded speeches.
