Just heard today that the Indian government is reviewing the operating costs of its external overseas services of All India Radio. They are considering closing the international shortwave section of AIR due to operating costs and "a dwindling overseas audience".
The Minister whose portfolio that covers AIR has yet to reach a decision. Would be sad to see them go as I have always enjoyed their English service to Asia and the Pacific...
Is there any additional news about this, and where did this information appear, in the press?
