Radio True North 6925 AM
« on: June 23, 2011, 0635 UTC »
6/23/11
6925 AM
0603-0633z: Via Colorado global tuners remote, heard Talking Heads "Road to Nowhere", Huey Lewis and the News "Heart of Rock 'n' Roll", Shirley Bassey singing theme from Goldfinger.  A couple of clear ID's for Radio True North and shout-out to night-owls on IRC #pirateradio.
SINPO=34243, well enough above usual summer static crashes to copy familiar songs and most of announcer chatter.  Steady but weak het or carrier in background from another station.
Just a carrier here at home, including outdoors with portable, but no audio.

0726z: RTN talking about spinning vinyl, Hall & Oates "Method of Modern Love".  Still hanging in there via Colorado remote but much weaker.  Still just barely a carrier here at home, and no luck via global tuner remotes east of Texas.

Nice strong S-5 signal. Still the best audio of any pirate, sounds pro. Hearing Don Henley "Boys of Summer".
Heard later with Bob Seger "Against the Wind" and solid S-9 signal. Talk of shutting down at the bottom of the hour, in 15 minutes.
Why is it Canadian pirates sound so darn good?

Next weeks contest: guess how many Volkswagons can fit in Joy Behars mouth. I pick five.

Most times & frequencies posted are only an approximation.
Wishing the 1980's PopComm was still around.
