I picked up radio habana cuba  on 1710 at 0130..loud...talk finishing on amateur radio, and radio habana sent in morse..very surprised..

That's interesting. In the days before the expanded AM band,my car radio would tune up to 1630. I'd catch RHC there regularly in the evenings with a strong signal.

The Cuban govt. sends out a ton of "barefoot Doctors" and specialists throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. I wonder if this a service for them on an open MW frequency?

Thanks for the heads up, I'll give 1710 a try.  So far in years of trying I've never heard a signal from any station on 1710.  But Radio Reloj from Cuba comes through fairly well here some nights on 570 when I oriented the portable to null out KLIF.

Reloj,eh? We might have this one solved.

1710 is the third harmonic of 570. Reloj was strong and in the clear on 570 last night,and faintly in the background on 1710 in the same period,with a man and a woman reading the news. The male announcer had a distinctive voice,a bit gutteral,which made it easy to put two and two together when switching between the two frequencies.

Only thing I am picking up on 1710Kc right now is myself :)
