6.925mhz AM Family Radio
« on: November 23, 2011, 2132 UTC »
2132 UTC just heard some sounds like church bells coming on, no ID yet, just started to transmit. Eventually they kept repeating a Family Radio ID for quite a while then went back into music.

It's about time for WJFK to do their annual broadcast. I wonder if it's them?

About 6924.65 AM here. About S-6, but just a bit above the noise floor.  2145 some song w/YL voice mentioning "my family."

Since I'm still new to this stuff, just wondering is someone rebroadcasting this or is it coming from the station ID'd in the audio from http://www.wfme.net.  I'm not sure if it has to do with pirate radio so just looking for some clarification.

Just signed off with those church bell like sounds at 2205.  I think it was wfme though since the voice kept talking about family in a christian sort of way.  Kept hearing it clearly here.

Quite a number of folks have reported they ID as WFMT, though the first time I heard them I thought it was WFMB.  But once it came through quite well here, and it clearly sounded WFMT.  I heard woman in the show that just went off say "This is Sonia Norwood" (mother of Brandy Norwood, and they played the same clip several times, I think maybe from a TV interview (she's also Brandy's manager--I Goggle'd it).  In the clip, she mentions "My family believes in God, my family believes in hope, my family believes in faith .."

Ok thanks Alex.  Heard all that too but just was confused if it was pirate radio or just one of those stations in the websites listed which seem like normal broadcast radio.  I have that pirate radio annual so maybe I will find some more info in there or look back on here at older ID's with family radio for more info.

No problem, eh?  ;)

There's actually a classical music station in Chicago w/call letters WFMT, BTW.

Yeh that's what confused me when I started hearing about this station - but what ever ID'ing the pirate wants, pirate gets! ;-)

Hearing it weakly in Central FL with song male singer, now male ID patter but hard to discern over noise floor; Country ballad style song Jerry Jeff Walker-ish @ 22:50
