Hobart Radio Int 5.045MHz USB
« on: February 08, 2020, 0837 UTC »
Just received "Hobart Radio International" (Australia) on 5.045MHz USB (SSB mode) running a special programme on "Aliens & Extra Terrestrial Life".

They are offering a special E-QSL for correct reception reports on the programme.  Haven't heard this station before, then again, I don't tune the SW bands very often.  Good 5X9 signal peaking 10dB over at 0820z.

Just after 0830z they started a programme on "Numbers Stations" part one of a three part series, quite interesting.

At 0905z mention was made that the transmitter is located in Gunnedah, NSW, Australia.

cj468, thanks for that, not really into Shortwave but have noticed that Unique Radio comes and goes on that frequency 5.045MHz, frequency will be quiet for weeks or months then they reappear again. They have another frequency down the lower end of 3MHz too, not heard for many months.

Same applies to Ozy Radio too (Razorbank, near Sydney NSW), not heard for a long time on the top end of 4MHz on AM, been quiet for a long time, maybe they have moved frequency?

I've heard that the operator of Ozy Radio passed away.  :'(
