Got a nice S-5 signal with QRN and QSB. Signal strength gradually building.
Tuned in to hear YL singing, then OM announcer gave Blue Ocean Radio ID twice, the email addy of blueoceanradio@gmail.com.

Fantastic to hear another great Canadian free radio broadcaster!
Please QSL to MaplRadio@gmail.com

Next weeks contest: guess how many Volkswagons can fit in Joy Behars mouth. I pick five.

6925 USB SIO 232

Weak to fair signal with some fading.  Went back through my recording and started getting traces of audio as early as 02:50z, but can't confirm if that was definitely BOR or not at that time.

03:57z hearing some mellow music
04:01z sounds like a laid back guitar lead
04:07z faint Blue Ocean Radio ID
04:09z back into the music - sounds like blues :)
04:14z 'If It Makes You Happy' - Sheryl Crow, signal has come up a little bit
04:22z ID
04:33z new song with violin/fiddle
04:35z blues guitar lead
04:42z bluegrass tune
05:14z multiple IDs, email addy & off or faded out

Audio (Have mp3 from 02:50z-05:14z, but conditions & signal were best from 04:46z-05:14z): http://archive.org/download/ShortwavePirateRadioCont/BlueOceanRadio6925Usb0446z-0514z06-13-12.mp3

Thanks BOR! :)

No schedule, sorry. My station is still experimental and using ham gear temporarily until my main xmtr shows up. I should be on more regularly by late summer. Cheers.....lightkeeper

Recorder Catch; weak and at the noise floor

0353 First audio noted; OM talk, followed by a couple of songs I could not ID.
0406 Definite Blue Ocean Radio ID
0407 BOR addy, followed by more unid music.
0438 BOR ID, addy, followed by unid music
0512 BOR ID, addy - this was the strongest ID heard
0514 last audio I heard in the recording

Thanks BOR!
Tonight, due to the tuning on the rx, it was far easier to understand spoken word than music.

Hi Sealord, thanks for posting that audio clip. It's very useful to me to know where I'm being heard and, how well. It was definitely a weak signal but you could make out the ID on the voice announcements. Considering that we're probably at least 3000 miles apart, I was only running about 50 watts average power and we're in the noisiest part of the year, I'm pretty pleased with the results. I should be able to put up a loop antenna here quite easily to try out so will make some more tests once I've done that. I had planned to use AM exclusively but may reconsider now that I know my ssb xmtr is up to the job. Thanks again.....Johnny

My pleasure JO :)

FWIW, as much as I like an AM signal for fidelity, it's easier for me to hear sideband through noisy conditions, but that's just me.  ~3000mi. is a pretty good haul for 50 watts!

By the way, I caught this on my overnight recording:

6925 USB SIO 232-233 06-14-12

Weak to fair signal with fading conditions.  Had to use my wavecom decoder (which is always iffy & nowhere near as good as DimBulb's ear!), but was able to see enough text for positive copy.

05:37z-05:40z Blue Ocean Radio CW w/ID & email addy.

Audio (complete tx): http://archive.org/download/ShortwavePirateRadioCont/BlueOceanRadioCw6925Usb0537z-0540z06-14-12.mp3

Thanks BOR! :)

I captured 2 tests  from BOR in an overnight recording last night.  Both had similar content, and began with VVVs.  I had to use my ear which is even iffier than Sealord's decoder which is iffier than Dimbulb's ear.

First Test 0355 - 0357UTC (weaker):    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?6w5ctldfr2tbb5o
Second Test 0537 - 0540UTC (stronger):    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?68c59k9cnodfkfs

Thanks BOR!
