Thanks Mr. Shortwave. Going to keep it going just a while longer to see what kind of reports I get now that it's gotten dark here. All the best...Johnny

I'd love to but my music collection is a bit limited right now. I'm working on building it up though...sorry. Will be shutting down after this set. Thanks again for your input...Johnny

Checking the SDR recording, I noticed some music around 0344z. Extremely weak signal.

Better reception around 0552z.

Thank you Sealord. My xmtr (FT-2000) has an extra wide tx bandwidth setting in a hidden menu which I thought I'd try. I'm attempting to get the best fidelity possible using ssb and I can tell from your audio post that I am close to achieving that. The fact that I am being heard at all on the SE coast of the USA at the summer solstice and running only about 50 watts average power bodes well for the fall and winter. Conditions will be much quieter then and I will be able to start at an earlier time giving our east coast friends a chance to actually hear me when they're still awake. And, by then, I hope to have more music in my collection so I don't get too boring as well as a mixer and mic so I can throw in some live commentary. All in all I would say my tests have been a success. Even my xmtr seemed not to mind being on for a full 3 hours :-) Thanks again.....lightkeeper

NP BOR :)

FWIW I use a 2.4khz filter for just about all of my sideband catches - there was also a period during last night's broadcast that had a nice fadeup over the noise with some banjo music that was cutting through really well:

Audio (05:45z-05:49z): http://archive.org/download/ShortwavePirateRadioCont/BlueOceanRadio6925Usb0545z-0549z06-21-12.mp3

Thnx again :)

Well, a banjo will cut through just about anything, don't you think? 73........lightkeeper

I set up recording last night, even with approaching storms...

0355 First audio noted.  The program was essentially music punctuated by occasional OM talk.  I heard definite Blue Ocean Radio IDs and/or addies at 0425, 0507, and 0535.  Fair copy in very high storm noise.

0555 I tuned off the radio when I realized that I was dreaming about lightning strikes lighting up LEDs connected to an antenna.

Thanks BOR!
