That’s right! The end is finally near. According to one of the three Mayan Calendars, the end of the world will occur on Dec 21, 2012. To celebrate this literally once in a lifetime event, Special Event Station N0D (Now Zero Days) will be activated for three days. December 20; is a celebration of the end of the world. December 21; the day of destruction, we will be on the air as long as possible. December 22nd, that is a little iffy right now.

Initial operating frequencies are 28.400, 21.400, 14.200, 7.150. But are all bets are off as destruction rains down upon us. We may have to change bands or frequencies at a moments notice. We will also be trying some CW and digital contacts.

On Saturday December 15th the Doomsday Balloon will launch from Fulshear, Tx. Trackers on the balloon will carry the N0D callsign to new heights. The Southeast Texas Balloon Launch Team will send BLT-36, TO the End of the World and float! for more info

QSL with SASE via KK5W, the address is in QRZ. If Doomsday actually does happen, we regret that a QSL will not be possible so don't mail your QSL request until it is safe.
We are definitely going out with a laugh. After all it is just an excuse to get on the air. Or is it?. You never know what can happen. In any case, we urge amateurs from around the crumbling world to make contact with N0D and report conditions in their area. You know, meteors ,earthquakes, tsunamis, cracks in the earth. We will be on the air as long as we can and as long as our generators hold out.
Members of our club will be operating from several secret, undisclosed locations. We hope to be represented on all bands (including WARC bands) and modes for as long as we can but deteriorating conditions may force us to move. As the globe falls apart, N0D may be interrupted from time to time but we will stay on the air as conditions permit.

You can become an Official Doomsday Station by registering on our website,

You will receive a registration number and the authority to identify yourself as “Official Doomsday Station” with your call sign and exchange your signal report and official Doomsday Number. Official Doomsday stations will receive the Doomsday Station Certificate. Stations contacting at least 10 Official Doomsday Stations during the event will be recognized on our web site.

Take the Doomsday survey on the website. It is not entirely clear exactly how it will happen. Will it be a cataclysmic shift in the earth’s magnetic field? Global Warming on steroids, earthquakes, volcanoes floods, global thermonuclear war, Meteor collision, the 10 plagues of Egypt, UFO invasion or all of the above? Who knows ? There are scientists, soothsayers and philosophers on both sides of the question. Either way it will be an event worth remembering. . .or maybe there will be no one left to remember it?
