I was on a forum the other day and the discussion of desk mic's came up. Someone brought up the Behringer XM8500 and how many unsolicited complements they get on the audio. Others chimed in and posted how much they liked it. Eham reviews -

The main reason I would like to get a desk mic is because I now have 2 transceivers on the desk and I tend to mix the mics up. The cable sometimes gets in the way of my paddle also. I emailed the person that brought it up and they sent the following info back. I'm a bit confused about the info and was hoping some of you might be able to simplify it a bit better. Let me know what you think. -
Run the audio hot through a 0.47 or 0.33uf cap to pin 8 and ground to pin 7.
Unscrew the top of the mic and pull the element housing out. Wrap a layer of electrical tape around the housing, covering the exposed openings. This will raise the high end response.
