Hi Chris!
Now we finally get to listen to your melodious voice! Great!
Where did you get all those used batteries? From the Smolinski home alarm system?
I see you like Radio Shack digital meters!
All kidding aside to all those looking to duplicate this "experiment" from home,
do not ever try this with fully charged batteries! The "ESR" or equivalent series
resistance of spent cells greatly increases. So, in this experiment current was limited
by the batteries self resistance as swell as all those small gauge wire test clips. With fully
"charged" cells the experimenter could be blinded by that alligator clip exploding in his
face. Also if the alligator clip welded itself to the battery terminal one could easily burn
his house down. As the battery temperatures rise they will produce a self sustaining
and extremely hot fire. If the unwary experimenter used heavier wire the situation only
gets worse.
I worked in the battery business for 13 years and have seen very nasty things happen
to the unwary, even with much smaller arrays of battery cells.
Place safety first and do not fool with many "little" 9 volt batteries in series folks.
It is absolutely amazing (and extremely dangerous) to observe see the pyrotechnics
produced by even a much smaller combination of these common everyday battery cells.
So, Chris what's next?
