Augusta was my great-Aunt's first name. She spent 85 years being called "Gus". She had a sister named Nellie who was known "Ned". The nicknames came from my Great-Grandfathers favorite mules. The girls didn't like it, but women tend to be blind to the noble nature of the mule.
