Saw this on the SDR next to The Mighty KBC on 9925.

Seems to be playing "Sy Borg" by Frank Zappa at 0010 UTC.

Very weak into the Alabama gulf coast.

0016 - Dong Work For Yuda now, still Zappa from the Joe's Garage album.
~0036 - Outside Now - Zappa
0038 - He Used To Cut The Grass - Zappa (signal much better now)

Surprised to stumble across this in Alabama with a strong signal for just a few minutes.  Wideband audio.  "Relaxing and refreshing, the smooth jazz station at Mix Radio International".

After fading out locally I found it coming in nicely to an SDR in Rochester, NY.

Appears to be a pirate, playing R&B/oldies.  S3 signal in Lower Alabama.

0302 - Everything Counts — Depeche Mode
0305 - Rock The Casbah — The Clash
0309 - Lover's Walk — Elvis Costello

Playing some great music, thanks!

Edit:  Gotta give up now that it's past 10 pm, the signal has really degraded on the NC SDR, to about the same level it is here in Alabama.  Hate to leave it, the music is fantastic.  Thanks again for the great tunes; this might be the longest I've stuck with any pirate show.

2340 - Led Zeppelin on 6933 USB?

I accidentally hit AM mode right as they played an ID over the song, so I didn't get a clean copy but it sounded like Planet Z… They signed back off before the song finished.

Hearing this now rock solid in SW Alabama near Mobile… Computer voice, sounded like it was ID'ing as Deez Nuts Radio but I didn't hear it clearly.

First song I ID'd at 2245 UTC was The Plague by Graves & Rickyxsan

There were some sound clips while I stepped away for a second.  Now it's 2253 and The Beastie Boys' Get It Together from Ill Communication is playing.

2257 - Beastie Boys - Alright Hear This
2300 - ID Deez Nuts Radio
2300 - Beastie Boys - No Sleep Till Brooklyn

2316 Korn - Low Rider
2317 The Lonely Island w/ T-Pain - I'm On a Boat
2318 Metallica - The Shortest Straw… SoundHound botched this one, keeps saying it's MC Solaar - A Temps Partiel!  Oops

Other / WI2JXP Experimental station @ 5058.5 kHz
« on: November 01, 2016, 0912 UTC »
I caught this beacon sounding off at around 3:30 am local time (0830 UTC).

It's on 5058.5 kHz.  It's slowly sending this in Morse code: “WI2XJP WAYLAND MA FN42HI”

WI2XJP appears to be a license for an experimental station in Wayland, Mass.  FN42hi is the grid square.

I'm afraid the FCC experimental license information doesn't really tell us much.  It's authorized on a variety frequencies, in a variety of modes, at 2 kW ERP.  Has anyone heard this, or know what the purpose of these broadcasts are?

It sounds a lot like OTH radar, but I've never known one to go on for quite this long or sound quite this… buzzy.

I've got a one minute video of it on YouTube.

This went on for at least five minutes around 0253 UTC (9:53 PM Central US) and pretty much covered up most of the 30 meter ham band.  The recording was made on the Gulf coast of Alabama, in AM mode but with the bandwidth set to 20 kHz to capture the entire audio portion.

Video with a snippet of audio: https://youtu.be/e6rt81_-HKs

The only reference to this frequency seems to be for HF air comms in South America (North West and South West sectors). I don't think I was hearing air comes from there since I wasn't hearing any other South American broadcasts — not even RN Amazonia on 11780 this evening.  As is evident in the video, the half of the conversation I could hear was quite strong.

The audio is a bit too boomy and muffled for me to make out but I bet some of you can decipher what's being said.  I hear numbers and what sounds like "American" at one point but beyond that, I'm at a loss.
