HF Beacons / "S" beacon DX
« on: August 19, 2009, 0034 UTC »
Hi all, just reading the udxf mail list and came across this.
> 8000.3 --- : unid channel marker 05:41 A1A/CW Channel marker 140 mS puls
> followed by 9 short 10 mS pulses every 40 mS (16 Aug)(PPA)

There is a pirate CW marker QRPP beacon in the on that channel
>S 8000.4 kHz 300Mw dipole solar daylight/7
see:
http://highfrequencybeaconsociety.bravehost.com/index.html
I'm not sure about the format, but I think it transmits a single morse
letter S ??
maybe you were lucky ??

this was copied in Germany by a guy named Pete.

HF Beacons / BEACONS HEARD TONIGHT
« on: July 07, 2009, 0117 UTC »
Hi all, finally got back in the saddle again for  a change.
High static levels tonight.
5157.60    blinky (dasher)  good signal here
10236.90  dasher    very strong tonight
10240.0   something in there but just can't make it out.
8003.90   dasher  pike Jr.  only western beacon that I can hear tonight.

the new Canadian beacon not heard here, have a very strong usb signal on 8260khz repeating the same thing over and over (gotta be a machine).
not able to hear much of anything to the west (beacon wise) for sometime. Pike jr is the only one.
not even hearing the okie's tonight. but hearing some western stations on 30 meter psk with good signals.

oh well at least I can blame this on sunspots.
