SDR - Software Defined Radio / Re: SSTV extension for KiwiSDR
« on: June 12, 2025, 0401 UTC »
You can record on the Kiwi while running the SSTV decoder, and if it misses a decode, make note of the timestamp, and go back to the recording later and pass it through a different decoder program.

Pushing S7 here with The Doors at 2306

Pushing S5 here with some QRM. Still running Kahn AM stereo?

2137: Listening on a Presque Isle, WI Kiwi where it's coming in at better than S9+10. Sounds pretty good with SAS mode!

2152: signed off.

Keep up the good work.

Mama And The Papas - Creeque Alley is a good song if you want to test out single channel modulation.

0138 utc: Moving in Stereo - The Cars

Looks like we're running C-QUAM again tonight. The pilot tone injection is a bit weaker than last night. Not hearing much for stereo separation though. Platform motion on the Kiwi doesn't help.

Rock/Blues music. Pretty weak in and out of the noise floor. Carrier at 6934.980.

I see a 25Hz tone, possibly doing C-QUAM AM stereo. Tough to tell audibly being so weak here.

0041 utc: Coming up better at the moment, close to S7. Sounding pretty good.

0219 utc: Signed off with the SSB. Thanks for the show.

I'm sorry to see this. I've had a few conversations with SIGINT over my relatively short time here. My condolences to his family and friends.

As some of you may already know, 620 WZON in Bangor, Maine is set to go off the air at the end of this year, along with a cluster of other area FM stations Stephen King (yes, that Stephen King) owns. Thanks to a few DXers, the chief engineer at WZON, and the IRCA/NRC CPC, a DX test has been arranged for 620 WZON. This may be the only chance for many DXers outside the upper eastern half of the US to get Maine in their MW log.

The test will be on Sunday Dec 22 at 1am EST (0600 UTC). Duration has yet to be determined. The DX Test program material has not yet been detailed but will likely consist of Morse code, 1kHz tones, sweep tones, and other sound effects.
