Equipment / Re: Modulation Help (AM)
« on: March 20, 2025, 0833 UTC »
Its +/-5KHz as the modulation B/W is x2 the max audio frequency.

Best to use a REAL A.M. transmitter!

However if you inject audio directly into the mixer you may be able to bypass some filtering, that and obviously changing the I.F. filters.

100W pep = 25W carrier.

You cant run more than that.

Equipment / Re: vertical or horizontal for sw pirate radio?
« on: March 05, 2025, 1920 UTC »
I'd use the mast as the vertical section (to hold the wire vertically) and then run the rest to a rooftop as the horiz section. Inverted V is another config.
I wouldn't get too concerned with impedance matching etc, just get as much wire up as you can.

Depends on frequency.

Transmitting info;

However as most OP's are using frequencies around 6-7MHz the main method of propagation during the day is NVIS so you'll need to use a low horizontal dipole. However at night the ionospheric layers rise higher and the skip goes long so this is the time to switch to a vertical or higher horizontal dipole. The power to maintain a decent signal strength will need to increase (x10).

There's also mechanical and situation constraints that effect the choice of antenna too.

Receiving info;

Anything will do and the longer and higher the better. As mentioned in an earlier post an 'inverted L' being a combo of both horizontal and vertical elements will work well and even better if you use some kind of balun altho' not essential.

Thing to remember that the signals are coming at various angles from the sky rather than (like VHF) over the ground.

10/11 meters / Re: 10M FM repeater activity
« on: October 29, 2024, 0845 UTC »
A old topic I know but it's 2024 and the sunspots have returned (well kind of, not as good at the mid 80's!)

I'm in the UK and there are plenty of 10m FM repeaters in the EU, however most seem rather unused except the one in MOSCOW on 29.670.

Had a contact in to PERTH Australia via this one, probably my best contact ever!

Worth listening out for in the US, you never know, you may make a contact thru' it one day!

DDS if a far simpler solution as its a single chip.

AD9833 is available with clock on a pcb for <$2.

Just add lpf and attiny45 to talk to it and you've got dc-12MHz.

Stereo tool, fairly standard.

Indeed.

Must have been on his mind for some time and looks to be his first post.

Nothing better to do perhaps?

Just to say I'm very serious about CE certification.

Does one not realise designs change/improve (years on)?

Possibly best to vent your issues whatever they maybe elsewhere.

No worries.

Oh dear!

The ONLY ignorant person would be yourself.

Anyway Im not going to enter into any argument with you but just to say I'm certainly no fraud.

No idea who you are and you certainly cant tell me or the 'ignorant' (rather rude!) Folk on here what to do either.

WTF!

I'm not advertising anything and no idea who you are.

My latest offering wont be advertised on here and I've gone on to design equipment that Im sure anyone would be happy with and many are.

New markets are opening up around the globe as countries are actually allowing hobby broadcasting on SW and Im currently in the process of getting a 250W design CE approved, similar to the FCC.

So there!

Please go away and stop your negative comments.

Thank you!

Most of the schematics in the net are very old and not of much use. Youll be better looking at the stuff on the Class E website for ideas and the CMCD stuff from W1VD is a good place to start.

100W (carrier), you'll need 2 devices if you have 96V. I find it a bit less scary to use 4 devices and 48V. Either will give 400W pep.

Lots of great devices around, the latest GaN being the best but the SiC devices are much cheaper and good enough.

Let us know what you decide on.

Im bored now.

You 'Septics' do go on some.

Fact remains, you've built nowt (not u RH).

Just give it a rest.

The stuff your wibbling in about is ages old.

Way past all that now.
