HF Beacons / SHORTY 7998.3 CW 0153 UTC 12-27-2016
« on: December 27, 2016, 0155 UTC »
Very strong signals this evening from Shorty!
Same order with transmission beginning on the minute for 45 seconds or so.
It is very strong also on remote receiver in Ohio.

Easy Copy!

Part 15 beacon GNK solid copy with a weak but constant signal.

Not sure if this is an un-reported one or a frequency change according to the Currently Active Beacon list.
The signal is fairly strong at times with fades. Dasher perhaps 1/4 second every 2 seconds or so

Anyone else??   ???

Dasher 13000 kHz  CW  2115 UTC  1-20-2014

Very consistent over the last hours with very little fading!!!!
Solid copy, with one second long dashes repeating every ten seconds
Hesitant to report this as it seems so strong and consistent without any interference either side of frequency.
Could this perhaps be some kind of commercial signalling or marker function?  Maybe a real beacon!!!  :D
Has this been previously reported ? Any takers ???

HF Beacons / Strong Slow Dasher 8125 kHz CW 0335 utc 1-8-2015
« on: January 09, 2015, 0340 UTC »
This beacon or whatever is strong right now. It is several "S" units above the commercial traffic.
Check it out!!  Note the "sidebands" on your waterfall!
This is very different at least for me.

 :D

HF Beacons / Fast Dasher 8500.036 CW 1130 utc 1-8-2015
« on: January 08, 2015, 1150 UTC »
Or would you call this a fast "ditter"??
Signal weak but good image on the waterfall @ 1130utc.
Hoping to her a nice fade-up but heard only a few rapid but small signal peaks.
Signal stopped abruptly at 1138 utc now started up again at 1143 at about the same signal strength.
Once again it stopped or faded out completely at 1145 utc
Now listening with wide open filter and the frequency is completely clear.
Still clear at 1150 utc   ???  ???

HF Beacons / QRP 8000.025 kHz CW 0330 utc 1-8-2015
« on: January 08, 2015, 0333 UTC »
QRP found in a lot of adjacent stuff. 80% copy to maybe 90% at best right now.
Using a narrow 100hz filter but side stuff still affecting the signal.
Nice peak at 0330 but not as good as earlier reports.

HF Beacons / S beacon 8494.904 1-7-2015 12:20 UTC
« on: January 07, 2015, 1230 UTC »
Hearing  "S" again this morning. Its a bit weaker today than as last reported two days ago.
Listening yesterday I found commercial traffic covering it up completely.
This morning a few commercial transmissions are nearby accompanied with an occasional
cover up.  Anyone else ?

S Beacon 8494.904

Solid signals even moving the "S" meter.
It has a nice steady signal with the recording attached.
No other interference even near this frequency at this time.
Only normal clicks and pops from urban living present.

 :)

HF Beacons / QRP beacon 7999.943 CW 0200 UTC 30 Dec 2014

Very weak copy for about an hour starting 0100Utc with a bit of a fade up around 0135- 0140 but now down quite a bit .
Just in the noise @ 1219.

No ditter so far....

HF Beacons / Note -- MTI 13357.537 kHz 1612 UTC CW 12-19-2014
« on: December 19, 2014, 1641 UTC »
 ;D
At 16:32 signals from MTI have built up to the best ever heard here.
In dBm -   Baseline average noise -128 dB with signal peaks to about -112 dBm
On the "S" meter  -   S-1 to S3+
Interfereing noise and other background signals have diminished making the signal stand out.

Only MTI's slow CW signal makes these measurements possible with my equipment.
Now I'm searching for more "Hifers" in this frequency range. Anyone else?

Very strong signals this morning and noticed at times it actually moves the "S" meter .
It has been consistent and now continues to build. This may be a good time to log it!

HF Beacons / P beacon 8497.7 to 8497.9 CW 0235 UTC 19 Dec 2014
« on: December 19, 2014, 0305 UTC »
The raspy sounding "P" Beacon is good copy at 0225 UTC. I once again attempted to measure its frequencies, that being the two instantaneous frequencies represented by the "key down" to the "key up" times which form the dot, two dashes and final dot creating the letter "P".  The frequencies are very close to a 200 Hz swing between key down and key up times. Waterfall traces also indicate the frequencies between the 200 Hz shift points but these are not as clear, perhaps altered by the sample time of the Excalibur receiver.

Still interesting and quite good copy now at 0304 UTC.

HF Beacons / QRP beacon 7999.943 CW 0224 UTC 19 Dec 2014
« on: December 19, 2014, 0224 UTC »
"QRP"  Beacon
I like it at 7999.943 Khz with 100Hz receive bandwidth
Occasionally this signal increases on a fast fade up with solid copy and good waterfall traces. Its building now at  ID at 0224 UTC.

Anyone guess on the general location?   ???

Late Posting

The "P" beacon with a clean capture of its audio.
As noted in earlier postings perhaps it suffers from a bad power supply or some similar anomaly.
"P" comes in here rather well at times.
