I think that might have been a rebroadcast of some RFE clips and "Pirate Radio Feud" from Commander Bunny.  Had a great signal here.

Signed off at 2230.

What SSTV modes are most commonly used on these frequencies?  I'm just starting out in digital modes and it is really confusing with a dozen different modes just in SSTV.

Equipment / A question on power inverters
« on: December 12, 2009, 1636 UTC »
I have a Kenwood TS-520 which is an excellent radio but it does not have 12VDC operation capability.

I also have a Cobra power inverter rated at 800 watts continuous and 1600 watts peak.  The TS-520 is rated at 400 watts peak consumption.  I would think that this inverter would be adequate to power the TS-520 but the inverter is a "modified sine wave" inverter.  The manual specificly states that it is for resistive loads and not for inductive loads.

Is a tube transmitter inductive or resistive load and would the modified sine wave cause any damage to my radio or cause any unwanted issues with transmission quality?

I've been listening to some apparently random letters transmitted in MCW on 8100 khz. After several minutes I heard SK three times and then: WMMUT  RWAUUUTAWG followed by more random letters.  Any ideas what this is?

Correction: the spy number station is on 6855 with a +60 signal.  It was so strong on 6860 it fooled me. :o

I was trying to pull a signal out at 6860khz with  music programming. That signal was at the S9 noise level and at 2056z a carrier of +40 came over it and 2 minutes later the numbers started in Spanish.

Receiving numbers station in Spanish at 6850khz with a +40 signal in east TN beginning at at 2100.  There was a carrier for at least five minutes before any modulation.  Three sets of five numbers followed by "attencion".
