 I was raised by my grandparents. My Grandmother was addicted to soap operas, tv and radio. Grandma dies just before I turn 8. One of the last things I remember doing with her was watching an episode of "The Guiding Light". The heroine's husband was reported lost in a plane crash in the Amazon at the end of the episode. That was the last time I saw the show for years.

Flash forward a decade or so. I'm hanging out at the commons room on my floor at my dorm. A couple of people are watching a soap, It's "The Guiding Light". I think "Damn! I haven't seen this since Grandma was alive."

The heroine, who'd aged a bit, had just remarried after years of what I assume consisted of mourning and failed romances. The happy couple had just arrived home from their honeymoon when some jolting news arrived. The bride's legally dead husband was alive and heading home from the Amazon!

I hadn't missed a thing.
