Cruising thru the MW freqs a couple nites ago on the 990X /whip was very surprised to pull in a 10 K-watter CKOM, 1065 miles from my QTH at 05:07  UTC  (23:07 local).  They were giving news feature story on a tragedy in Nova Scotia. Initially a solid signal for about 5 minutes then gradual  QSB to nil x 15:15.
Apologies for the late post - sometime life just insists on getting in the way.
Primary: Yaesu FRG-7700  Secondary: ICOM R75 Tertiary: Grundig  750. Tecsun PL-990X, Tecsun PL-880 . Malahit DSP SDR V3,  Alpha Delta  SWL Sloper antenna. : Also, 1940 Mantola am/sw tube. CountyComm GP-5/SSB hand held, Tecsun PL-380 ,et al.  QTH: EAST TROY WI  USA.  Sea Level: + 320 meters .  75 miles (but not far enough) NNW of Chicago

Good catch, Don...  they send most of their power to the North and WSM dominates 650 all night
so good work pulling the Canadian out of the ether.  :)
