Decoder sofware for SSTV and other digital modes
« on: January 08, 2013, 0516 UTC »
I've just started looking into decoder software for various modes and have downloaded
some Freeware decoding software for CW & SSTV . (MMSTV)

I have various flavors of Windows & Linux to work with at home.

The Freeware SSTV  MMSSTV Ver 1.13A worked fine. Easy to setup and free.
I put a splitter in the on board sound card output then patched  one side to the mic input and one side to the speakers.
I setup MMSSTV then I played a recording of the Wolverine 12-25-2012 6925USB show and it worked first time!

For those of us on Linux, QSSTV works nice and is forgiving of drifty BFO's :)

Peace!

Yes, QSSTV works nicely in Linux, and it does tolerate a great deal of "slop" on tuning etc.

Previous to qsstv, I ran MMSSTV (Windows) in Linux Mint / Ununtu under the Wine program loader. It worked very well in Linux as well.

Ive downloaded the package for QSSTV 7.1.7 but have not loaded it yet.
Spent a lot of time playing with Fldigi with the Win Radio this weekend,
Works really well with the PSK, RTTY, and Olivia, also the best CW decoder I've tried so far.
I down loaded the Linux version of Fldigi as well. Checking out the various digital modes
fired up my imagination and is giving me some ideas I want to try ;D
