Cancelling the Noise
« on: October 09, 2025, 1406 UTC »
I've been exploring options regarding noise cancelling modules  to use with my ICOM R75 and/or YAESU FRG-7700.  The BHI -LTD  and Xiegu GNR1 appear to be viable candidates . Any recommendations or comments on these two modules ( or others ) ?
Thanks!
Primary: ICOM R75 W/WV-601 passive loop masted @ 20'  Secondary: Yaesu  FRG 7700 W/MLA-30+ indoors. Tertiary: Grundig  750. Tecsun PL-990X, Tecsun PL-880 . Malahit DSP SDR V3,  . : Also, Qdosen DX-286, 1940 Mantola am/sw tube. CountyComm GP-5/SSB hand held, Tecsun PL-380 ,et al.  QTH: FONTANA, WI  USA.  Sea Level: + 990' .  75 miles (but not far enough) NW of Chicago

A friend of mine, 20 miles away from me, swears by his BHI Active Speaker that he uses to take out noise at his end. https://bhi-ltd.com/    Then, some are experimenting with RM Noise from their computers.   http://www.bitofsnow.com/2023/10/20/ai-noise-suppression-is-an-amateur-radio-breakthrough/   My answer??? Move antennas as far away from the house as possible. However, that does not reduce lightning crashes on the low bands. A W.O.G., does help, (Wire On Ground.) However, don't expect DX records to be broken with that.
“I am often asked how radio works. Well, you see, wire telegraphy
is like a very long cat. You yank his tail in New York and he
meows in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? Now, radio is
exactly the same, except that there is no cat.”

My problems are largely man-made noise from the plethora of solar inverters surrounding my house and secondarily a high-voltage power line about 1/2 mile away. The noise could be a lot worse though and using a horizontal dipole that is slightly farther from my neighbors' houses instead of mostly vertical antennas near one of the "chief interferes" has helped quite a bit. However there remains a certain amount of noise.

I have found the WiMo QRM Eliminator to be helpful. Its just a tunable canceller.
I don't STRETCH the truth.
