About S6 here, thanks for the show!

Checking the SDR recording... looks like they signed on at 0045 UTC with music, then an ID and mention of the ship being taken over by pirates.

Very weak, but I can hear at least one dasher. The Sun is already coming up, so that's probably about it for 4 MHz right now.

There's lots of folks just getting interested in pirate radio listening, as well as people who stumble on this site, as well as others, and don't really know what it's all about. I'd like to propose making a Pirate Radio FAQ page, possibly on the wiki, that could help folks out.

It could explain what pirate radio is, have a brief history of the hobby, talk about what sort of equipment (radios, antennas and such) are needed, mention web radios for those who want to dip their toes without laying out any cash, discussions of QSL cards, as well as have outbound links to recordings and youtube videos of stations. Maybe some embedded multimedia as well, to grab people's attention?

What else do folks here think would be useful in such a FAQ?

I've created a wiki page to get the ball rolling: http://www.hfunderground.com/wiki/Pirate_Radio_New_Listener_Guide_and_FAQ

If you have an idea for content to add, feel free to add it directly to the wiki (that's what it is there for, for users to create content), or post it here or email it to me, if you would rather not directly edit the wiki.

With everyone's input, I think we can create a very useful collection of content for folks just getting into the hobby.

FWIW, I checked the SDR recording, and nothing at all noted on the East Coast at this time.

SDR recording catch, first noted 0521 with an S6 signal. Almost up to S9 by the close at 0546, with a clear ID and email address.

Music noted again in LSB at 0646.

Turtlehead ID at 0710.

Annoying het from 6925.something noted here as well.
