Hey hey Chris!  After getting healed up I figured the Mrs would keep you too busy to DX!

Nice clear S7 here in NY.  "Monday Monday" Mamas and the Papas.  ID at 2112.

Not even a whisper in upstate NY at 2025, but none expected.  You're skipping long Z - enjoy the band!

S7 here.  Playing some decent tunes.  "My Ebola" parody song to the tune of My Sharona.  (Peskies or other) starting to step on XLR8 at about 0025.  Thanks for the show!

S9 signal here.  Kinda interesting really.

No! They got it all wrong! "It's Don Henley must die, put him in an electric chair with Glenn Frey"!

Ahh Pigmeat - I see that you also read from the Book of Mojo...

Apologies folks.  The band went long early and I was not in a position to run more than my peanut whistle tonight.  Whatever you got, you got from a little over 9 watts of carrier power.  As usual, anyone interested in a QSL please hit my box with a modest report - cut and paste is fine.  Thanks for listening... 73!

This is the "Equipment" forum right?  So what prompted that response?

Whatever prompted it - it was GREAT!  Lit me up like a Christmas tree... 73!  ;D

FM Free Radio / Re: faint signal @ 87.740mhz in NY
« on: January 15, 2016, 2254 UTC »
Elite - like you, I reside here in pukey New York State.  When I have occasionally dabbled on the FM band, I ALWAYS stay below 88 MHz.  I do that because the quirky way that the New York Anti-Radio Piracy law is written, the state has no jurisdiction below 88 MHz.  Better to dog the overworked Feds than the NYS Troopers.  I'm guessing that your neighbor is down there for similar reasons...

you know you'd rather have that lube delivered in a brown box than have some humanoid scrape it over the scanner at the town CrapMart and look at you wondering in its feeble mind what you might do with it.

 ;D Geezuz moof!  ;D

Or maybe they're wondering why you're paying good money for that fancy schmancy mojo slick when you could just go to the back door down at Jiffy Lube and Goober would give you with a whole mayo jar of waste oil for a couple of Loosies... :o

I have no experience with the PL-600.  However, the PL-660 is a GREAT radio for the price.  My 660 has a few microprocessor-related quirks that don't diminish my experience one bit because I really don't use much of that electronic overkill.  As far as being a RECEIVER, it outperforms any of the Sangeans I have owned-INCLUDING the 909.  Others might disagree but I think its a killer portable radio.  Kaito is the best place to buy because they are the authorized distributor and can better take care of any problems you have.

I posted a nice reception video of WAZU last month that you'll never see because it was banned in 233 countries due to copyright claims for the music identified in the recording :-(

Geez Kilo, I thought it was because Fred has such a potty mouth!  ;)  BTW - thanks for trying anyway.

I'm all for protecting intellectual property but I'm incredulous about how treatment differs with differing venues.  Often pharmaceutical companies have to spend tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars to develop a drug - that helps people - and jump it through all the hoops for FDA approval.  Then they get 12 years to make their investment back and have the opportunity to appeal the FDA for an extension.  But music?  Lifetime plus 50 years.  If pharma companies had the same deal I imagine that drugs would be MUCH MUCH cheaper.  But of course, it's more important to keep those SME violations going for 40 year old music.  Makes no sense to me...

The RF Workbench / Re: Higher power design.
« on: January 13, 2016, 1317 UTC »
Very interesting thread guys but I've been lurking because the subject matter is mostly above my skill level.  I think you're on the right track by designing for a less ambitious power level Stretchy.  Feedback I've received over the years from homebrewpirateradio group members who value portability do so for TWO reasons.  First of course is the security of being able to transmit from - WHEREVER.  Secondly, many ops live in:

Trailer parks
Apartment Buildings
Dense Subdivisions

All these situations find the op in very close proximity to neighbors and all their poorly-filtered consumer electronic devices.  The 10-20 watt carrier level minimizes bleed through problems and yet works quite well for NVIS mode operation, which is what a typical sub-optimal antenna is best for anyway.  I agree with Redhat - generators are a bust.  Even the quietest are so damn noisy that you need to be surrounded by many many acres of nothing or you'll be attracting the wrong kind of attention.   I'm guessing that you'll find some takers for a 100 watt carrier level transmitter.  Good luck with it...

QSLs Received / Re: WAZU eQSL
« on: January 12, 2016, 0111 UTC »
Glad that you like them fellas.  I'm doing my best to NOT send duplicate QSLs.  Youse guys forced me to dig out some older ones - kinda nice to see them again.  Thanks again for the logs and reports!

P.S. - I can do my shows sober Skippitymuck.  However the transmitter hates to drink alone...
