Signal got above the noise floor about 0140.  Hearing "Make the World Go Away" right now. I'd give it an S7 in western New York.  Noise. Fading.

Here in western New York, getting a very intelligible S7.  Signal is improving as the sun sets.

I don't remember Bob Fass, but the hi-jinks in this obit certainly brought back memories of pirate radio back in the 80's. Back then, pirate radio was cool because it was subversive and funny.  Kinda like National Lampoon doing drug and political humor on the radio.  But then again, who remembers the National Lampoon Radio hour syndicated to FM rock stations in the 70's?

I recently got back into SWL and searching for the pirates after a 30 year hiatus. I'm disappointed by all the music.  I can get that stuff from the local FM classic rock station, or Pandora, or Sirius.  I could go on but my point is that there's so much potential for pirate radio that's being missed. Pirate radio should be something you won't find in the mainstream.  Otherwise, why would you do it?

My two cents. YMMV. Void where prohibited. Cover before striking.

Found the signal, but only because I knew where to look.  No copy.

I got to the party at 2212 and heard some blues. Initially S2/S3 with poor intelligibility. The playlist drifted into early pop/rock. at 2223 heard the Twist and intelligibility improved.

In the deep mud here in western New York.  Competing with the peskies for the bandwidth.  I heard "Green Eyed Lady" and something about a "Million Dollar Weekend".  Maybe S4 - S5.

Got to the party a little late.  At 0025, had a good S8 signal in western New York State.  Heard the techno music, possibly Blue Man Group.

Then at 0028, the signal dropped into the mud.  Heard some very weak voices, then some very weak instrumental music.

0054    Discovered the station with a nice, clear S9 signal.  Heard two folksongs including "Down by the Dusty Trail".
0059    Announcer came on with short chat mentioning Maui and Calgary.
0101    Lost the announcer in mid sentence like his transmitter was shut off.

Getting Ballsmacker with a S7 signal in western New York.  I'd probably have a better report, but I'm in between antennas right now and am using my rain gutter.

9:03     1999
