Back then, pirate radio was cool because it was subversive and funny. Kinda like National Lampoon doing drug and political humor on the radio. But then again, who remembers the National Lampoon Radio hour syndicated to FM rock stations in the 70's?
I recently got back into SWL and searching for the pirates after a 30 year hiatus. I'm disappointed by all the music. I can get that stuff from the local FM classic rock station, or Pandora, or Sirius. I could go on but my point is that there's so much potential for pirate radio that's being missed. Pirate radio should be something you won't find in the mainstream. Otherwise, why would you do it?
