Equipment / Re: RETRO RECEIVER REVIEW #12 -The YAESU FRG-100
« on: May 14, 2018, 1900 UTC »
The only Yaesu I have ever owned (and still own) is the FRG-7.  The FRG-100 just has "the look" that a great receiver should have. Maybe some day I will come across one when I have a bit of spare cash. Would make a nice addition to the collection.

SDR - Software Defined Radio / Re: Recording With AirSpy HF+
« on: March 27, 2018, 1648 UTC »
For me, I've used Audacity for all of my audio recordings, whether I'm using HDSDR, SDRuno, SDR# or the SDR-Consoles.  Just easier that way.

Shortwave Broadcast / RNZI this morning
« on: March 07, 2017, 1353 UTC »
Conditions must be somewhat improved this morning over the last couple of mornings. I've caught RNZI first on 9765. Followed them down to 9700 and now listening on 7355.  Good signals on all into central Ohio.  Using my RF Pro-1B and my NRD-535D.

I had kept the RSP1 out with the arrival of the RSP2 because SDR Console V2.3 was not supported by the RSP2. When that changed last month, the RSP1 has taken up residence on a shelf as a back-up or for possible sale some time in the future.

Got my eQSL this morning. Physically missed listening to it while it happened, but had set up HDSDR to record the audio for the hour while I was away.  Sounds like it was a very good signal into central Ohio with very little fades.

I'm hearing that the Lime SDR has hit a bump in the road. Evidently the second batch of 500 has a quality control issue that is currently being researched.  I have two SDRplay RSPs, but I've always have my eye out for something else to play with...even though my preference is a physical radio.

Supposedly, the shielding of the RSP2 and the RSP2 Pro are the same and the metallic case of the Pro model is for physical protection of the unit. With that understanding, I've already ordered the RSP2 and it will be delivered tomorrow, Nov. 28th.
