"The Mighty 1630",  big signal in here most nights.
Can occasionally get WRDW in GA in the null of KCJJ.
If the skip is right, KRND from WY with a MEX format
will stomp on the IA station.

L-G,

630 meters (472 - 479) is available to U.S. Hams General class and above, low power.
Have heard some CW there from time to time.

Auroral zone.

Does auroral reflection affect longwave frequencies ?

I have a suspicion that latitude of the rx site will be the determiner of best propagation times.... for that rx site of course.

The terminator will move faster the closer one is to the equator so greyline enhancement
will be shorter closer to the equator if my reasoning is correct.

Also, the period of nighttime darkness during winter will be longer the further north one is located.

Are there other considerations based on latitude ?

The author of the article found that October was best month for number of beacons logged from his QTH.
Around here, beacon season is fully underway by October, but the best months have been December and January
with another peak in March.

It is QRT as of springtime last year.
Don't recall ever logging it here, the others you mentioned and the Toronto
station battle it out on 1690.

Nice log for midday summertime...
Did a quick bandscan here just before noon and heard only 13 beacons.
The neighborhood powerline QRM has become really bad lately.
Could formerly log as many as 25-30 beacons daytime,
although some of those have gone QRT.
We both heard YQA and ADG today.

Hmmm, interesting, the other loud station on that freq is WVON Chicago.
Have not recently heard a SS formatted station on 1690.

Good catch, Daniel.
That station puts out a big signal at night for only 1 kw.
