Heard sweep tones @ 0422 and 0428 but CKAT "Country 600" North Bay ON is pretty much dominating the frequency here in MI.

WWL has a big signal in here this morning at sunrise on the car radio.
Talking about portable generator safety.
No interference was heard.

Seeing a solid signal at 871 kc on the SDR before dawn this morning.

Pinto - the supposedly Cuban 'Wobbler' is active on 870 this evening.  I heard it last night, too.

Hmmm... heard a loud warbling signal on 870 last night that sometimes faded a bit to reveal some Spanish.
The RR in Morse was then also audible every minute...  who would want to jam WWL and Reloj ???

Never did hear WWL last night or this morning.  Are they on the air ?  idk
Apparently most of the area around there is without power due to a downed transmission tower.
Seems odd there is only one feed for a whole city.
Also seems odd WWL wouldn't have a backup generator.  Maybe its just propagation.

Good signal from New Orleans into MI this morning at dawn on the car radio.
Talking about preparations for approaching storm Ida.
They were on the air all during Katrina with first hand reports to the outside world...
still a place for AM radio.
Hopefully this will turn out to be a non-event, but it could get interesting.

Hmmm, ZQT Thunder Bay...  that's a tough one here for some reason.
Odd because 332 QT usually pounds in here.

NU in the summertime, nice DX...

Otherwise all the eggs keep going in the GPS basket, it's not just NDBs but VORs as well
going away.  Most pilots probably won't complain, it's just too easy to follow a GPS display.

Give WWL AM 870 New Orleans a try, you may have to block the Maine station.
If you don't hear New Orleans, maybe you will catch Radio Reloj, listen for the
RR in Morse every minute.  Tough during the Summer but if you want a challenge...

Over the Pole to Europe or Trans Pac, nice...

Drake format - haven't heard that term in a while.

More music...  minimum chit-chat, tight production, timed to a fraction of a second...
all this in an era when the DJ had to cue up the records manually on a turntable

Been noticing the huge red sunrises here in MI the past week or so.

Ah yes, the nostalgic aroma of tubes. I got a good dose, love it.

(To twist up the quote from Apocalypse Now) "I love the smell of tubes in the morning, it smells like Dx".
