SDR - Software Defined Radio / Re: Software Phasing with your SDR

Isn't this exactly what the FCC does?  Active short verticals arranged in a circle they can electronically steer to DF?

. . .and if two aerials are good, four are definitely better.  More complicated?  Yes, but moah bettah.

A pair of guys in my QRP club build and electronically steered RDF unit for 2 meter rabbit hunts with 8 1/4-wave whips mounted on a frame that could be magnetically mounted to the roof of a vehicle.  They did this about 10-15 years ago, so there wasn't a lot of DSP software that they were using, it was more electromechanical, but it was still pretty slick.

Of course, that's a somewhat easier case, given a very narrow RF bandwidth.

Heil what?  Whatever.

S 5 here in St. Louis, MO.

You might return that guy back to the laundromat he came from. . .

S9 Here in Missouri still, and I'll second some Who.

Or Cheech & Chong, heh.

Can't decode the SSTV (yet), and no voice or mx to speak of (couldn't hear a thing over noise tonite),

but did get the CW ID at 0020:

I need to work on that SSTV. . .

Finally ID'd with PeeWee in CW at 0020

Quite a show -- S9+20dB in MO at times.

Booming into St. Louis, from 0100 to 0158 My Funny Valentine end.

Now, on to decoding that SSTV. . .

Had 'em here about S6 in MO around 2317.

Got the mooing, the "bowel moves", air raid sirens, the works.  I think I need a shower. . .

So, after using it for a couple of months, what are your thoughts?

Big signal from RFW here in MO.  S7-9 Between 2312 and 2330, when I had to split.  Positive ID at 2317.

One detail question:  at sign-on, did he play the Russian national anthem, or the Soviet one?  Just wonderin'.

Abruptly off at 01:08

It was definitely the Great Escape.  I clearly heard

"Danish butter, Von Luger's.
I liberated it from his mess supplies.
Oh, yes. And Dutch chocolate. Two bars."

Heh, that nutcake it out?  He used to make interesting reading on the forums, back in the day.  Wonder if he's in the market for a ham rig?

The RF Workbench / Re: Specs on the venerable RS 270-030A?

Oh, you *would* ask that, wouldn't you?  Fooling around with Heising modulation.  I know enough to know what exactly I'm trying to accomplish, and if the RS part (RIP) fit the bill for certain types of designs, something with similar specs would do the same job.

Basically, a giant RF choke that is low resistance and can pass a decent amount of current (say, oh, 4 amps).

Once things get put together, I can look at it on the scope to see if it's doing the job well or not.

Duh, answered my own question.  Why is it that I find the answer only after I seek out an answer via the collected brane trust?

Towards the bottom.
