Well, here's a new one....sounds like some guy running intentional interference? He's obviously chanting something in a repetitive fashion, but I can't make out what's being said.

UNID-7054.8-0345-UTC

Any idea what's going on here? Recorded via SDR in Central NC.

Great song!

Just heard that here as well. Coming in well off a Fork Union VA based SDR, albeit with some interference at times from....a utility station?

Got what sounds like bluegrass and general blues music right now on a Milford PA SDR.

Around S6 at the moment, will get a clip here when I can.

Via Boca Raton, FL. Anyone have an idea as to what this could be?

690 AM

I suspect XEN-AM or XEWW from Mexico...but the former is in Mexico City (quite a distance from South Florida), and the latter doesn't do music (talk format).

Shambala by Three Dog Night came on right after WART signed off.
0323: One by Three Dog Night.
0326: Black and White by Three Dog Night.
0330: Station ID of "W D O" followed by dogs barking. So I'm calling it WDOG.

Also hearing this off an MD-based SDR.  Good amount of static, but about S7.

Just recorded this EAM or whatever off an SDR located in Dutchess County, NY.

It's a bit hard to hear due to some distortion, but here's what I could glean from the audio:

Quote
ZZZ3XD BREAK

ZZZ3XDKUD58Q_SSO_HQ2 BREAK

_SOUTHERN BREAK

5SIK6K BREAK

I SAY AGAIN...

(message repeated)

THIS IS PROPAGATE

BREAK

Always curious to know what exactly they're saying.  Anyone have any idea?

Picked this up here in California, any ideas?
"Acme Air, Acme Air.  This is Acme Mobile. Are you requesting BDA from ??? or Red Dog 5152?"
"Red dog five one five two reach.  Confirm one zulu bravo lima destroyed ???  Vice three over."
"Confirmed.  Over.
"Say again ??? Over."

http://robp.meowr.net/stuff/10175_acme_air.mp3

From what I can glean from this, it appears to be a communications test between F-16s and F15s (or US Marine Corps helicopters) based at Edwards AFB, CA.  :)

Heard via an SDR based in Fuquay-Varina, NC.

1370 AM

The recording is very spotty, but a careful listen will reveal that the station is playing the end of Aerosmith's "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing".

Anybody got a clue as to what this could be?

Interesting catch here.

I think the following is WBHR (as it's the only ESPN Radio affiliate that I can find on 660).

The only thing is, I have no idea how a ten thousand watt signal would be making in from Minnesota to Orlando.  That would be about 1,631 miles on the hop from St. Cloud (according to my estimate); New York to Miami is only 1,278 miles.

I refer to this because there have been reports of WFAN coming in well near the Miami area...but these reports were made in the early 90s.

There's no way a 10,000 station could get this far out...right?

Was this WBHR?

If you heard the ESPN ID, then it was not WFAN as they are not an affiliate.

To clarify, what I meant was that based on the distance, I would not expect WBHR to be making it to Orlando.

I didn't hear WFAN.  The only reason that I mentioned them was to note that in order for the WBHR signal to get to Orlando, that station would have had to cover more distance than "The Fan" did in the 90s.

Before or after dark?

Before dark.  By my calculations, 1734 UTC = 12:34 PM Eastern Time.

I don't have the specific time information handy, but from about 3 to 4 AM Eastern time this morning, I heard quite the battle on 920 khz.

It seems that a Canadian station was fighting with a Spanish-language outlet and...I think a news-talk station...for that frequency.  The Canadian candidate MAY have been CKNX, or perhaps CFRY (I've heard the former before in this location, even at just 1,000 watts).

As for the news-talk and Spanish-language stations, I'm not quite sure what they were (never caught a call sign...but the Spanish one seemed to be playing music in Spanish).  Perhaps WHJJ in Providence for the former?
