Maybe S2 here at 2218Z. very nice modulation.

Hearing them here on 7506.5. The music comes through well but the speech is too muffled to copy an ID.
Cool tunes!

I just got one of these. I always thought they looked pretty cool but the construction is not as robust as it appears in the pictures.
The radio works fine on FM but I'm getting nothing on AM or any of the SW bands, not even a faint hiss. The "S Meter" is pinned.
I cleaned the band switch and downloaded a service manual.
So now to work...

Anyone else have any experience with these?

Equipment / Re: Parts for Grundig Radios?

That may be a good solution. I was considering a #60 drill and a piece of fine brass wire. Not mention a limited warranty on the repair  ;)

Equipment / Parts for Grundig Radios?
« on: October 22, 2012, 1900 UTC »
Someone dropped off a Grundig G8 (Traveler II) for repair.

All that is wrong with it is the knob on the volume control just spins. It looked like an easy fix but upon getting it apart, it looks like the pot is made with the control disc as an integral part. The "shaft" between them that broke looks to be 1-1.5 mm in diameter and recessed into the pot a bit so glue is not an option.

I found a few spare parts for sale online but they are things like battery covers and antennas. No volume controls.

Anyone have any ideas? (apart from throwing it out) :)

There was nothing to be heard today from the mobile. It is there now, at the typical strength. I need to be more methodical.

I have been hearing this for quite some time. I mentioned it on #pirateradio once or twice but no one else was hearing it at the time.
I suspect that it is local to me as it is always s9 +10 day or night. I will be mobile today and will see if I can track it down.

General Radio Discussion / RCI's Sackville site is up for sale.

Just heard an interview with CBC's head of transmission assets. He says they would like to sell the facility as a going concern but is not optimistic given the sad state of shortwave broadcasting world wide.

Could be a pretty interesting yard sale...

Probably the land will end up as a wind farm.

Noted here with Guitar singing story teller, mentions of a person named "Jack Johnson"  Singer sounded a bit like Arlo "Alice's Restaurant" Guthrie on speed. I think it was the HMS Titanic, not the USS... just sayin'

She was actually RMS Titanic (Royal Mail Ship)
