The broadcast you heard didn't come from the original X Minus 1 station.
Someone else has been airing the shows recently, when I do it I include station ID and email address.

Sounds like a radio program being aired.
Unsure of program material. (Sci-fi story)
Fair signal amid heavy static.
Signal improving.
Found a little additional information about this episode:
Perigi's Wonderful Dolls
Air Date   :   08.04.1950 ( August 4, 1950)
Plot   :   + "Pyrigi's Wonderful Dolls". The story of the little dolls with the big ideas. The program closing has been deleted. The script was subsequently used on "X Minus One" on June 5, 1955 and on January 18, 1956. The "X Minus One" program was rebroadcast on "Monitor" during August, 1973. + The doll shop stood on a quiet Washington side street not too far from the sprawling Pentagon building. A woman and a child waited outside, the little girl peering eagerly at the dolls inside and the woman glancing impatiently at her wristwatch as if expecting someone who is late for an appointment. And there was nothing about the doll shop to warn them that they were waiting to keep an appointment with doom…

s7-s8 near DC, some fading, no qrm, fair audio. comfy at 3.5k width for me.

Took me a bit to dial this one in.  Enjoying the program as its currently talking about “blackmail” and narrator mentions “he just killed a man”.
