Another new catch for me, via a Montana-based SDR.  This particular station appears to be KNRS-AM, out of Salt Lake City.  Very good reception...about 485 miles on the hop.

OK, this is a weird one by virtue of the distance and reported power.

I THINK I just heard KCMX on 880 khz into New Braunfels, TX.  The strange thing about that is the distance of this hop is about 1,623 miles (from Phoenix, OR).  Also, a quick check of Wikipedia tells me that this station operates with only 1,000 watts of power.  Now, according to the KCMX website, they were airing "The Clark Howard Show" at this time, which is what I heard....but over sixteen hundred miles away? Could that really be the case?

Here, judge for yourself.

Is This KCMX?

Here's an interesting catch off a Key West based SDR.  Cuba is blowing them away, but if you listen really closely, you can hear WFAN out of NYC.  They were talking about the New York Yankees.

Here's a new one for me...KCJJ out of Iowa City, IA (via Elida, OH).

A quick look at Wikipedia tells me that this station transmits with ten thousand watts during the day, and one thousand watts at night.  The city of Elida OH is apparently four hundred and twenty-eight miles from Iowa City.

Oh, and one more thing...the station was playing The B-52's when I caught it....epic cool!! :)

So I'm thinking this was possibly KHRO-AM, but off frequency.  The station's format is listed as "classic hits", and owner "Entravision Communications" primarily seems to serve the Spanish-speaking community.  This would also explain the location of El Paso that I heard.

Thoughts?

Pulled this in a few minutes ago off a Las Cruces NM-based SDR.

Using Google Translate and a rudimentary knowledge of Spanish, I believe I have figured out that the call was "XBL"-something.  I heard "equis bae elle", but was unable to decipher the rest.  The announcer also says that the station has "mil watts potencia", or one thousand watts of power.  I heard San Diego and El Paso mentioned as well.

Anyone have a clue as to what this could be?

Just heard this at 4960, and have no earthly idea what it is.  It sounds very similar to the tones that could come from an 80s video game.

"Metal Munching Mice"? Is that something like "Biker Mice From Mars"? LOL!! (90s FTW, BTW)

Can anybody hear the tones on 27185/27186 right now? Hearing various tones under CB chatter into the Western PA SDR.  Assuming it's just some jackass playing around?

For reference, here's a recording of said tones.

OK, here's a weird one for ya.  Pulled it in off the Hampton Bays, NY SDR.  Spanish-language music on 600 AM.....sounded like they were singing the same thing over and over, LOL.

The station in question was overrunning WICC 600 (Bridgeport, CT).  I can't find any Spanish-language station in the area on that frequency....possible pirate, maybe? Little help?

Hearing some music on 6050 right now on a SDR out of Nevada.  Station was playing The Bangles' "Eternal Flame" earlier, sounds like an all-Bangles set.  Does anybody know what this could be? Signal is around S6, with some static.
