I've heard these types of transmissions before, they seem to come and go. Every so often, for example, LINK-11 will set up around 6945.  I've also heard ALE on 6925 USB, supposedly from Israel.

My guess is with the proliferation of SDRs, we're better able to spot these transmissions.

I agree conditions have generally not been great, but last night we had a nice (for summer, anyway) opening to Europe on 48 meters here on the east coast. Very good signals from three Europirates at the same time.

SDR recording catch. First noted around 0404z, with a weak signal. Slowly improved over time. Not too bad by 0530z. Quite nice by 0630z, SIO 333.

Off at 0904z.

0435 sign on with Simon & Garfunkel "The Only Living Boy In New York"
0518 I heard the talking Sealord described. It was very difficult to make out, but it didn't even sound like English to me.

SDR recording catch. Came on at 0403 with music, off at 0406.
Music heard again at 0411, weaker signal, but same frequency of 6924.675, so I assume the same station. Off at 0416z.

SDR recording catch.

0212 sign on with OM talking, tough copy with the static and fairly weak signal. Then I heard a tone and into some music. Dead Kennedy's it sounds like.
0216 Another song, too weak to ID.
0218 Two Scottie 1 SSTV images:





This appears to be the same station that was on 6929 at around 0231z.
