SDR recording catch.

OM talking, heard some music as well, fairly weak. Seems to have been on the same time as l0de was logged on 6930, so perhaps someone else?

Yodeling heard here on the SDR recording:
0140 OM talking, or mumbling, impossible to decipher, then into yodeling, then "this is Andy Yoder / Yodel"
0200 Yodeling, talk at end, possibly same as above.
0203 "I'm Andrew Yodeler", then yodeling.

Fairly good copy here on the SDR recording. And yes, the IS is very distinctive on the waterfall.

Just signing on now with Soviet Anthem, and into the comrades with an ID. Fair, SIO 322.

Hearing CW there now, not sure if this is the same station, or just normal ham comms.

Strike that, I am hearing the D0N call. Extremely strong here!

A very interesting catch, thanks!

Checking further back, this came on earlier, 2235z with "Turn On the Radio"?, off at 2247.

The distinctive voices of radio broadcasters may be a result of their vocal cords being more elastic, say Australian researchers.

The suggestion follows a new study that found the vocal cords of such radio performers close faster than others.

Equipment / Re: Preamplifier uses

Personally, I am not a huge fan of pre-amps for HF. They can be very useful on VHF and above where background noise levels are low, especially relatively narrow band pre-amps with good noise figures.

Virtually all decent HF receivers are already more than sensitive enough. As you said, you're most likely just going to amplify the existing noise, plus add additional noise from the pre-amp.  I could possibly see some use on say 10 meters, but I'm doubtful there's any benefit on say 43 meters.
