About s-30 steady carrier.  I'm guessing we can expect some numbers/data soon, probably on the hour.

Edit: 1825z, the numbers have started on AM.

Happening as we speak, very loud, about s-40 into NE Ohio.

At about 2225z it stopped transmitting, there was just the carrier.  At about 2228z, it went to just numbers.  Back to numbers/data at 2231z.

Sounds like the same transmission from earlier on 11.635.  Same great signal (s-40) with low audio/modulation.

Stumbled upon this while chasing dx on the ham bands.  I'm recording it as we speak and will post up the video as soon as I can process it.  Fairly loud into NE Ohio, about s9 with qsb.

Faint cw, I believe they are sending, happy new year.  Seems like someone else is also on the frequency making copy kind of tough.

Very hard to copy as there are two stations occupying the same freq...sounds like id'd as radio kpzl?  Also copied "radio puzzle"?

Equipment / To balun or not to balun?
« on: November 05, 2012, 0218 UTC »
Hey gang, i was repairing storm damage (courtesy of Sandy) on my full wave horizontal 80 mtr loop and am considering adding either an "ugly balun," or possibly a dx engineering 1:1 balun. The antenna is abt 275 ft long and is currently just fed directly with coax, and I use it for 10-80 operation with a tuner.

It appears to work fine, but i'd like to make sure it's performing the best it can using coax (buryflex).

Obviously, i like the cost of building an ugly balun, but will it work as good as the 1:1 dx engineering balun? I'm open to any other suggestions.  Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a halloween show, but not getting a very good copy, about s-8 with lots of noise from the remnants of the hurrican/tropical storm.
